CHICAGO (Aug. 19, 2026) – The Missouri Valley Conference announced Wednesday that UIC's Les Miller Field at Curtis Granderson Stadium will serve as the host site for the 2027 MVC Baseball Tournament, May 26-29.
Â
The tournament will mark the first time UIC has hosted the Valley's postseason baseball championship since joining the conference in 2022-23 and continues a remarkable run of hosting opportunities for the Flames. UIC has now been selected as a predetermined host for an MVC championship event in five consecutive years, including indoor track & field (co-host from 2023-25) and women's tennis (2026).
Â
"We are thrilled to host the MVC Tournament next May," said UIC head coach
Sean McDermott. "This is a tremendous opportunity to showcase our incredible facility and all the support staff that make UIC baseball and gameday at Granderson Stadium so special. Hosting the MVC Tournament also wouldn't be possible without the hard work and success of last year's team, which truly earned this opportunity for our program and our University. I'd encourage everyone to mark their calendars now and plan to start Memorial Day weekend with us, watching some outstanding college baseball in one of the nation's best venues!"
Â
Widely regarded as one of the nation's premier college baseball facilities, Curtis Granderson Stadium offers an expansive view of the iconic Chicago skyline and has served as the home of UIC Baseball since opening in 2014. The state-of-the-art facility was made possible through a generous donation from its namesake, former UIC All-American, MVC Hall of Famer and 16-year Major League Baseball outfielder Curtis Granderson.
Â
In addition to serving as the home of Flames Baseball, Curtis Granderson Stadium has welcomed numerous youth leagues, camps and clinics since its opening, making the facility a centerpiece for developing young people throughout Chicagoland.
Â
While 2027 will mark the first time the MVC Baseball Tournament has come to the UIC campus, the Flames have extensive experience hosting conference postseason competition. During UIC's NCAA Division I era, the Flames have hosted 15 conference baseball tournaments – nine in the Summit League from 1982-94, when the league was known as the Mid-Continent Conference, and six in the Horizon League from 1995-2022, when the league was formerly known as the Midwestern Collegiate Conference. The most recent came in 2017, when the Flames defeated Wright State to capture the championship.
Â
The top six teams in the final 2027 MVC regular-season standings will advance to the double-elimination MVC Baseball Tournament at Curtis Granderson Stadium, with the top two finishers receiving first-round byes. The tournament champion will earn the Missouri Valley Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Â
UIC enters the 2027 season as the defending MVC regular-season and tournament champion, having swept both conference championships in 2026 – the first baseball championships in program history as a member of the Valley – and advanced to the NCAA Tournament's Atlanta Regional. The appearance marked the seventh NCAA postseason berth in program history.
Â
Additional details regarding the 2027 MVC Baseball Tournament, including game times, ticket information and broadcast coverage, will be announced at a later date.
