St. Paul, Minn. –  The UIC volleyball team (1-4, 0-0 MVC) completed a reverse sweep Friday afternoon, defeating St. Thomas (1-3, 0-0 Summit) in the second day of the Tommie Invitational at Schoenecker Arena in five sets.
Senior

Emma Colombari added 11 kills and seven digs. In her collegiate debut, freshman middle blocker
Robyn
Ward posted five kills and six block assists at the net.
After dropping the first two sets, UIC fought to stay alive in the third and pulled even at 23 after kills from senior
Gabi Peter and
Emma Colombari. The Flames earned their first set point of the match when St. Thomas committed a service error, followed by an attack error from
Anya Schmidt to close out the frame, 25-23.
UIC carried its momentum into the fourth set, opening on an 8-3 run highlighted by one of three service aces from freshman setter
Judy Asar. A trio of kills from
Kisic midway through the frame pushed the Flames further ahead before they closed out a dominant 25-12 win to force a fifth set.
UIC kept its push in the fifth set, opening on a 10-4 run highlighted by
kills from Colombari, Ward and  freshman
Elizabeth King. St. Thomas closed the gap to 12-9, but the Flames closed out the match by scoring the final three points, including two off Tommies attack errors, to secure the victory.
