UIC Athletics

Uniting our Flames Family through an engaging and celebratory welcome back event that marks the start of a new academic year. Where all student-athletes, coaches, administration, and staff join together to reunite, welcome newcomers and set the stage for the upcoming year. Athletic Director Michael Lipitz and SAAC President kick off the event and the F.L.I. provides programming specific to resources and information needed to start the year off positively. Wrapping the event in a family reunion style picnic including games and get-to-know-you activities.  

A night to come together in celebration and reflection of the past year. A red-carpet event supplemented with photographers and hors d'oeuvres to welcome each guest create a fun and unifying experience. Awards and recognitions are given to teams and specific student-athletes in areas of athletic, academics and mission-driven service performance.

Student-athlete led group that acts as a social, technical and network of people to help foster and develop in areas of career, leadership and life skill as it relates to their shared experience as a minority student-athlete.

  • Event: Burning the Flame Even Brighter: Building for Inclusive Excellence This powerful, collaborative experience will support student-athletes in gaining a richer appreciation of the benefits of an inclusive excellence framework for strengthening the flames community and enhancing performance outcomes, particularly during these challenging times.
