Milwaukee, Wis. - Despite erasing a 17-point second-half Wisconsin-Milwaukee lead, UIC came up short Monday night, 62-54, at the Klotsche Center.

The Panthers (10-8, 4-1 MCC) led 31-23 at the half and opened the second stanza on a 10-1 run to pull ahead 41-24 with 17:15 left in the game.

The Flames (6-13, 1-5 MCC) rallied back, though, with a trio of mini runs, outscoring UWM 27 to 9 over the next 12 minutes to take a 51-50 advantage with 5:16 remaining.

Amanda Bartz was the catalyst of the UIC rally, dropping in 12 points on 4-for-5 three-point shooting.

Just as it seemed the Flames were ready to forge ahead, Wisconsin-Milwaukee clamped down, holding UIC to a lone Kim Henry free throw the last 3:05 of the contest. The Panthers, meanwhile, scored 10 points during the span, including clutch treys by Jessica Wilhite and Teri Stoltenberg to earn the eight-point (62-54) victory

Bartz led UIC with 14 points, while Kimberly Henry added 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.

The Panthers were paced by Darryl Schaffeld, who tabbed a game-high 17 points. Wilhite, a Glen Ellyn, Ill., native, was the other UWM player in double figures with 15.

UIC will look to snap its five-game losing skid when they meet city rival Loyola on Friday night, Feb. 4, at the UIC Pavilion. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
