CHICAGO – The UIC women's basketball has another guard ready to join the backcourt, as head coach
Ashleen Bracey announced guard
Danyelle London will be joining the Flames for the 2026-27 season after an impressive high school career at Fort Erie International Academy (FEIA) in Ontario, Canada.
"We are thrilled to round out our Spring recruiting class with Danyelle London," Bracey said. "She comes to us from a top Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA) team that consistently plays a high caliber schedule. She has competed with and against several Division I and Power Four-level players throughout her career. Danyelle has developed in a structured, high-level basketball system and competed on a travel circuit that has prepared her for this level. She is a true floor general, a relentless defender and takes pride in getting her teammates involved. We are excited to add a natural-born leader to our roster and a young woman who is committed to the shared values and culture we have built here at UIC."
London becomes the sixth student athlete to join the Flames this offseason, joining transfers
Lyla Kahrimanovic (April 9),
Evyn Carrier (April 18),
Miyah Brown (
April 23)
Nevaeh Foster (
April 25) and
Salma Khedr (
May 4).
The Markham, Ontario native was a mainstay in the backcourt in her high school career with Fort Erie. In 2024, London was named as an All-Canadian and Team Ontario Member. Two seasons later, the guard was ranked 14
th by the National Preparatory Association (NPA), finishing her senior year averaging seven points, six assists, four steals and three rebounds per game. That earned London 2026 All-Canadian honors.
London represented her home country on the court after being selected to the 2026 All Canadian Basketball Games girl's roster. The event featured Canada's top senior high school basketball players and was held in April. London also played a key role for Become One Canada Elite (B1CE) on the travel ball circuit.
UIC women's basketball continues to make strides at the NCAA Division I level under coach Bracey. After three consecutive postseason appearances from 2022-25, the Flames aim to return in 2026-27, as they enter their fifth season in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Forward
Julia Coleman returns to UIC next season after ranking eighth in the MVC in scoring (16.1 PPG) and rebounding (7.4 RPG) in 2025-26. She earned All-MVC third-team, all-defensive team and all-newcomer team honors for her efforts.
The Flames will also rely on returning veteran leaders
Tutu Clayton and
Magdalena Winter. Clayton started every game last season, while Winter showed significant growth in her first full season on the court, earning MVC Freshman of the Week honors early in nonconference play.
