Bowling Green, Ohio - The UIC volleyball team showed little fatigue leftover from last night's five-game marathon versus IUPUI as they swept Evansville, 15-13, 15-5, 15-4, to open second-day action at the Bowling Green Invitational.
In the match that started at 9:00 a.m. this morning, UIC used a team effort to get past the Aces (5-5), who were swept last night by Bowling Green, as 11 Flames contributed in the win. Vicki Lublow rebounded from an off night on Friday to lead the team with six kills, 16 digs and three service aces. Junior Lynn Clarkson was also strong with seven kills and three blocks on the day.
Senior setter Erica Anderson posted UIC's lone double-double with 27 assists and 11 digs while freshman Teaha Shepperd (6 kills, 7 digs, 2 aces), Jill Greer (6 kills, 11 digs, 2 blocks) and Lindsey Filkins (6 kills, 7 digs) put up solid numbers in the three-game sweep.
With the win, UIC improved on its already best-ever start to a season as they now hold a 9-1 record on the year. The Flames will look for the 2000 BGSU Championship later this evening when they meet the host Falcons at 6:00 p.m.
