Milwaukee, Wisconsin - UW-Milwaukee continued its dominance of its opponents at home as the Panthers breezed past the University of Illinois at Chicago volleyball team with a 30-25, 30-24, 30-16 victory on Saturday at the Klotsche Center.
The Panthers (12-5, 8-1 Horizon League) have won 52 of their last 54 matches at home and are currently on an eight-match winning streak. UIC drops to 10-11 overall and 3-6 in Horizon League play.
Sophomore outside hitter Lindsey Filkins led the way for UIC with 14 kills and nine digs, while teammate Vicki Lublow added eight kills and 13 digs.
"We weren't very competitive today at all," UIC head coach Don August said of his team's performance against UW-Milwaukee. "I'm not sure why not, but we weren't.
"It was a pretty lousy game all around."
For the contest, UW-Milwaukee swung at an amazing clip of .353 led by 13 kills apiece from Carly Allison and Laura Dallenbach (13 digs). Teammate Robin Alt contributed 11 kills for the Panthers.
UIC also was done in by costly mistakes, which included seven net violations and four ball handling errors.
"The net and ball handling errors were being called like crazy," August said. "This was a much tighter called game than we have been experiencing and we didn't adjust very well.
"(UW-Milwaukee) adjusted better."
UIC will be back in action on Friday night as they travel across town to square off with cross-town and Horizon League rival Loyola at 7:00 p.m.
