Cleveland, Ohio - The University of Illinois at Chicago volleyball team earned a four-game, 30-24, 30-32, 30-25, 30-28 victory over Cleveland State at Woodling Gym on Saturday afternoon.
With the victory, UIC improves to 15-14 on the season and 6-8 in Horizon League play. The Flames are over the .500 mark for the first time since September 13th this season.
UIC turned in a dominating performance on Saturday as they hit at a season-high hitting percentage of .320 against the Vikings. In game one, UIC hit at a clip of .529, followed by a equally impressive outing of .441 in game three.
Sophomore Teaha Shepperd keyed the way for the Flames with 17 kills, followed by senior Vicki Lublow (14 kills, 16 digs), junior Gina Caneva (15 kills) and sophomore Lindsey Filkins (12 kills, 12 digs).
Michelle Iafigliola recorded a game-high 23 kills for Cleveland State, while Jamie Bouyer (15 kills, 20 digs) and Lori Betchker (13 kills) each turned in impressive efforts.
UIC will travel to UW-Milwaukee on Friday, November 16th to participate in the Horizon League Championships. Time and opponent are to be announced.
