Oak Park, Ill. - The UIC women's tennis team won its second-straight match and evened its record at 4-4 on the season by blanking Eastern Illinois on Sunday, 7-0, at the Oak Park Tennis and Fitness Center.

In singles play, the Flames swept through the EIU lineup as they took all 12 sets in the six matches.

Sophomore Nicole Derouin, who won 6-4, 6-0 over Becky Brunner, gave UIC its first singles win in the No. 1 match this season while junior Alyson Stalzer improved to 5-1 this spring with her 6-0, 6-0 victory over Kristi Martin in the No. 5 singles match. Other singles winners for the Flames were Jacki Farr (6-0, 6-3/No. 2), Ayca Gumuscu (6-0, 6-2/No.3), Zvjezdana Malesevic (6-2, 6-2/No. 4) and Kim Harris (6-1, 6-2/No. 6).

In doubles, the tandems of Derouin/Gumuscu (No. 1) and Zorica Malesevic/Stalzer (No. 3) both cruised to 8-0 wins while Farr and Karen Liwanpo were default winners in the No. 2 contest.

After playing its last four matches in the Windy City, UIC will hit the road this week for a trio of road contests beginning on Thursday, Feb. 22, at Ball State. The Flames open conference play on Friday, Feb. 23, when they travel to Indianapolis, Ind., to meet Butler.
