Volleyball Signs Megan Colins To National Letter Of Intent

Nov. 26, 2002

Chicago, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago head volleyball coach Don August announced that he has signed Homewood-Flossmoor's Megan Colins to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Flames in 2003.

"We're very excited about Megan Colins," August said. "She is a tremendous athlete with an outstanding future ahead of her at UIC."

Colins, a 6-foot middle blocker, recorded 179 kills and 112 blocks last season as the Vikings captured a regional championship. During her three-year tenure on the varsity, Colins helped Homewood-Flossmoor to three consecutive runner-up finishes in the SICA East.

"Megan played the front row for us and was a formidable blocker and attacker," Homewood-Flossmoor head coach Jodi Bryant said. "She is an awesome person both on the court and represents the finest of Homewood-Flossmoor high school."

Colins has also earned several post-season volleyball accolades including: Honorable Mention All-Conference (2001), Honorable Mention All-Area (2001, 2002) and All-Conference (2002).

UIC finished last season with a record of 20-14, marking the Flames' best performance since 1988 (23-17).
