Chicago, Illinois - The University of Illinois at Chicago women's basketball team held Cleveland State to just two field goals over the last 17 minutes of their game on Saturday afternoon.

Cleveland State, however, converted 15-of-19 free throws in the second half to help preserve the 64-57 Horizon League victory over the Flames at the UIC Pavilion.

UIC drops to 14-14 on the season and 6-10 in the Horizon League, while Cleveland State improves to 13-14 and 7-9 in the league.

Cleveland State's Ashley Schrock scored 12 of her 18 points in the last 11 minutes of the game to lead the way for the Vikings.

"We just couldn't make our shots," UIC coach Tim Eatman said. "We also fouled too much, they were 15-of-19 in the second half from the free-throw line.

"It was a good effort, but we had a lot of missed opportunities."

Cleveland State's Erica Roudebush led all scorers with 19 points, while teammate Shannon Sword chipped in 14 points for the Vikings.

Roudebush scored 17 of her 19 points in the first half as the Vikings built a 38-33 lead at the intermission.

Cleveland State extended the lead to 45-39 behind five points from Sword. The Vikings' momentum quickly came to a halt as Schrock was whistled for a technical foul for kicking UIC's LeKesha Williams (13 points).

UIC capitalized and went on a 10-0 run, behind four points from Williams to take a 49-45 lead with 13:12 left in the game.

Schrock, however, would look to make up for her mistake as scored the next seven points for Cleveland State to give the Vikings a 52-49 lead with 9:17 left in the contest.

UIC's Consuela Hall (8 points) answered right back and tied the game at 52 with a three-pointer.

Schrock, however, scored five points to lead Cleveland State on a 11-5 run to put the game out of reach for the Flames.

Stesha Rhodes led UIC with 14 points, while teammate Jaysie Chambers also turned in a solid effort.

UIC will be back in action on Thursday afternoon, as they will travel across town to Loyola for the first round of the Horizon League Tournament against UW-Milwaukee. Tip-off is slated for 1:00 PM.
