Ypsilanti, Michigan - The UIC women's tennis team is making its way through a difficult Michigan triangle, and thus far, the Flames are running into some tough competition.

On Friday, the Flames were blanked by Michigan, 7-0, as the Wolverines had their way with head coach Shannon Tully's team.

On Saturday in Ypsilanti, the Flames took their shot at the host Eagles, but came up short losing to Eastern Michigan, 5-2.

Nicole Derouin picked up a win at No.2 singles for the Flames, defeating Rebecca Hawkins, 5-7, 6-2 (6).

Molly Smith also visited the winner's column, beating Shari Gamarnik 6-4, 3-6 (6).

UIC will finish up its Michigan road swing against Michigan State on Sunday in East Lansing.
