Boca Raton, Fla.- It was a rough outing for the short-handed UIC women's tennis team as they concluded their non-conference spring Florida trip on Monday morning with a loss to host Florida Atlantic, 7-0, in Boca Raton, Fla.
UIC (4-7) played without the injured Melanie Humphrey, who sprained an ankle against Barry University on Saturday, and were forced to forfeit the No. 6 singles match to the Owls (4-6).
The two teams split two doubles matches by default, leaving only the No. 1 doubles bout to be played. The Flames couldn't pull it out as Corey Stevena and Christina Oum were downed 8-1 by Alena Dvorkova and Elodie Wendling.
UIC returns home to action on Thursday against Eastern Michigan at the Evergreen Racquet & Fitness Center at 1 p.m.
