UIC Volleyball Concludes Home Slate This Weekend

Chicago, Ill. - UIC concludes its regular season home slate this weekend against Cleveland State on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7:00 p.m., followed by a 4:00 p.m. contest the following afternoon against Youngstown State.

Saturday's match versus the penguins marks the final home contest for four seniors on the 2006 team. Ambria Springer, Maura McCarthy, Julie Popp and Katie Kozak will be honored for their accomplishment at UIC in a ceremony prior to the contest.

Following UIC's match versus Wright State on Oct. 20, senior Katie Kozak captured first place (2,576) in the UIC career records book in assists after notching 55 against the Raiders.

The Flames (14-12, 7-2) enter this weekend's competition ranked second in the conference. UIC topped Butler in a four-game victory on the road, Oct. 21.

In league contests, senior Ambria Springer leads UIC, averaging 4.09 kills and 1.29 blocks per game. Junior Amanda Kenny owns a team-high 138 digs and Katarina Nedeljkovic has totaled 15 service aces in nine conference matches.

Cleveland State (15-6, 5-4 HL) enter Friday night's showdown against UIC ranked fourth in the Horizon League. This marks the Vikings final road trip in regular season action.

CSU is coming off a sweep over UW-Green Bay at home on Oct. 21.

Liz Fazio leads CSU with 101 kills in league contests, while Jordan Bateman owns a team-high 5.21 digs per game. Pacing the Vikings in service aces is Jenni Ramminger with 16. Danielle Siefker leads CSU at the net, averaging 1.28 blocks per game.

Averaging 3.56 kills per game in conference matches, Youngstown State's Ruth Boscaljon leads the Penguins on offense with a .296 attack percentage, while also owning a team-high 32 blocks.

Notching 130 digs, Cari Leslie paces YSU on defense. Youngstown State (9-17, 0-9) is coming off two consecutive losses to UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee in three games each last weekend.

UIC wraps up the regular season on the road against UW-Milwaukee (Nov. 3), UW-Green Bay (Nov. 4) and crosstown foe Loyola on Nov. 9 before the Horizon League Tournament, Nov. 16-19 in Dayton, Ohio.
