Chicago, Ill. - The Flames return home after dropping Youngstown State and Cleveland State on the road last weekend. UIC welcomes UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee to the Flames Athletic Center on Oct. 6 and 7 for two Horizon League matchups.
Looking to continue their four-match winning streak, the Flames enter this weekend's action 10-10 overall. Earning Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week honors, junior Katarina Nedeljkovic led UIC with two double-doubles and seven service aces in two matches. Senior Ambria Springer totaled 11 blocks and senior Katie Kozak owned a team-high .375 attack percentage.
UW-Green Bay (7-8, 1-2) enters the matchup against UIC after grabbing a 3-1 victory over non-conference DePaul on Oct. 3. The Phoenix are 1-2 in league play, picking up their only conference win against Youngstown State in four games on Sept. 23. In three league matches, Abby Bergsma paces the Phoenix with 30 kills and 15 blocks, while Megan Elfering leads UWGB on defense with 42 digs.
Ranked second in the conference heading into this weekend's action, UW-Milwaukee (9-4, 3-0) is coming off of three straight victories. The Panthers topped Youngstown State, Cleveland State and UW-Green Bay to record a perfect 3-0 league start. In conference matches, Melissa David leads the Panthers with 45 kills, averaging 4.50 per game. Becky Peters guides UWM on defense with 43 digs and Cheryl Hegemann has totaled 14 blocks in three matches.
UIC hosts non-conference foe Bradley at the Flames Athletic Center on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The Flames then jump back into Horizon League action against crosstown rival Loyola in the "Red Out" match at home on Friday, Oct. 13.
