Chicago, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago senior Ambria Springer and junior Katarina Nedeljkovic were named to the 2006 All-Horizon League team, while junior transfer Amanda Kenny received all-newcomer team honors announced by the league on Thursday, Nov. 16.
This marks the second All-Horizon League accolade for Springer and third for Nedeljkovic. The junior was also named to the 2004 all-newcomer team as a freshman.
Springer leads the Flames and the league with 3.81 kills per game and ranks third in the conference with a team-high 1.21 blocks per game. Springer owns a .245 attack percentage and 34 service aces at the end of regular season play.
Nedeljkovic has notched 381 kills (3.46 kpg), a career-high 323 digs (2.94 dpg), 40 blocks (0.36 bpg) and a team-high 46 service aces in 31 matches.
In Kenny's first season with the Flames, the junior transfer owns 315 kills (2.76 kpg), 345 digs (3.03 dpg), 22 service aces and 51 blocks.
No. 2 seeded UIC takes on No. 7 Butler on Friday, Nov. 17 at 1:00 p.m. (central) in the first round of the 2006 Horizon League Tournament hosted by Wright State in Dayton, Ohio.
