Springer Named AVCA All-America Honorable Mention

Chicago, Ill. - UIC volleyball senior Ambria Springer received 2006 Division I All-America Honorable Mention from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Friday. Springer was eligible for All-America after being named to the Midwest All-Region team last week by the AVCA.

Springer led the Flames this season with 3.84 kills and 1.24 blocks per game. The middle blocker owned a .251 attack percentage and a .425 kill percentage.

The senior helped UIC to its first-ever Horizon League Tournament title match appearance in school history and was named to the all-tournament team with a team-high 46 kills (4.18 kpg), 17 blocks (1.55 bpg) and a .320 attack percentage in 11 games.

Springer was named to the 2006 All-Horizon League squad and was recognized during the season with Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week honors on August 28
