Fort Wayne, Ind.- A three-set rally by senior Paul Glendenning at No. 2 singles helped give the UIC men's tennis team a 4-3 road victory over IPFW on Friday morning.
UIC (2-2) took the early lead with a clinching of the doubles point. Glendenning and Adriano Liccardo won their No. 2 doubles bout, while Ivan Kovalev and Andy Lockhart picked up a strong 8-6 win at the top doubles spot over Landry Nzudie and Nabil Mourad Filho.
With Kovalev and Lockhart winning in straight sets, it was Glendenning who played the hero to give UIC the dual match win. After dropping the first set by a 6-1 count to Filho, Glendenning won the second set by a 7-5 tally to force a third and deciding frame, where he dominated in a 6-2 victory.
