Baseball Beats Wright State In Doubleheader Opener, 6-3

April 15, 2006

Box Score

Chicago, Ill.- Bart Babineaux's two-run homer in the fifth inning broke a 3-3 tie and helped the UIC baseball team take a 6-3 victory over Wright State in the first game of a Horizon League doubleheader at Les Miller Field on Saturday.

Joe Skinner pitched eight innings, giving up just three unearned runs and fanning three, to pick up his fourth win of the season.

With one on in the fifth, Babineaux launched a Chris Snyder offering over the left field wall to put UIC up 5-3.

Nick Rainwater's RBI single in the seventh added insurance, putting the Flames up 6-3.

That's how the score would stay, as Jason Foster and Adam Worthington combined to keep the Raiders off the board in the ninth.

Both Rainwater and Babineaux drove in two runs.

UIC improved to 19-12 overall and 11-2 in league play.
