Box Score
Chicago, Ill.- Bart Babineaux's second homer in as many games and a complete-game performance by starter Zach Peterson were not enough in the finale of Saturday's doubleheader, as the Flames were edged by visiting Wright State in a 2-1 affair at Les Miller Field.
UIC (19-13, 11-3 Horizon League) still took the series over the Raiders (17-15, 9-8 Horizon League), two games to one.
Peterson gave up just two runs, one earned, in his third complete game of the season, but took the tough-luck loss to fall to 3-3 on the year.
Babineaux, who hit a two-run blast in the first game, sent a Robert Barrett pitch over the right field wall in the sixth inning to tie the game at 1-1.
The senior rightfielder now has a career-high and league-leading 13 homers for the year, with 12 coming in the last 14 games.
But Wright State scored the deciding run in the top of the seventh when Justin Parker's sacrifice bunt scored Justin Wilson.
UIC faces UW-Milwaukee in a single league game at Henry Aaron Field on Tuesday.
