Charleston, Ill. - The UIC volleyball topped Eastern Illinois in four games (31-29, 26-30, 30-25, 30-24) Tuesday night on the road. Three players recorded double-doubles with junior Amanda Kenny leading the Flames, notching 16 kills and 28 digs for UIC versus the Panthers.
Katie Kozak picked up her second triple-double on the season, recording ten kills, 44 assists and 21 digs. The setter also posted a team-high .429 attack percentage in the 3-1 win. Katarina Nedeljkovic added 11 kills and 19 digs, while senior Ambria Springer guided the Flames at the net with five blocks.
Leading the Flames with three kills and a .333 hitting percentage, Nedeljkovic helped UIC to an early 15-9 lead in game one. Trailing by five, Eastern Illinois sparked a run to knot the game at 15-15. The game remained close, eventually tying at 29-29, before Kenny and Nedeljkovic drilled two straight kills for the 31-29 win.
Posting ten kills and four digs, EIU's Eliza Zwettler guided the Panthers to a 30-26 win in game two after posting a .333 attack percentage.
With the match all tied up, the Flames bounced back, holding Eastern Illinois to a .118 attack percentage, while owning a .286 clip in game three. UIC trailed 10-8, but ran away with the lead for the 30-25 victory.
The Panthers and UIC exchanged points in game four. Knotted at 24-24, a Kenny kill and three consecutive service aces by Nedeljkovic sealed the match victory (30-24) for the Flames.
UIC tackles Horizon League action this weekend when the Flames face Butler on Friday, Sept. 22 at 7:00 p.m., followed by a matchup at 4:00 p.m. against Wright State at the Flames Athletic Center.
