Chicago, Ill. -The UIC volleyball team opened Horizon League play in impressive fashion on Friday night with a 30-28, 30-17, 30-22, sweep of Butler at the Flames Athletic Center.
The victory was UIC's second straight and moved the Flames to 7-10 overall on the year. The Bulldogs, meanwhile, have now dropped eight straight decisions and sit at 5-9 this season.
For the second consecutive match, junior Amanda Kenny sparked UIC's attack, totaling a team-high 13 kills to go with nine digs. Kenny has now posted 29 kills, 37 digs and a .319 attack percentage (29-6-72) in her last two matches.
Senior Julie Popp recorded a team-best 11 digs for the Flames, while senior Katie Kozak finished the contest with 36 assists, six kills and seven digs.
UIC posted a .291 team attack percentage, including a torrid .600 (13-1-20) clip in game two.
Porshia Allen paced Butler with a match-high 17 kills. Susana Henri and Nina Inic each had 12 digs for the Bulldogs.
The Flames will look to extend their winning streak on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Wright State to the Flames Athletic Center at 4 p.m.
