March 11, 2007

Box Score

Nashville, Tenn.- The UIC baseball team was unable to dig out of an early hole in a 14-5 loss at the hands of top-ranked Vanderbilt in the series finale between the two teams at Hawkins Field on Sunday.

Tyler Moore drove in four runs on an eighth-inning grand slam, and Micky Pingree hit his first home run in a Flames uniform to highlight the day for UIC (4-8).

Larry Gempp Jr. went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Vanderbilt (18-0) scored six times off of starter Ryan Zink in the first inning and never looked back.

The Commodores would score in four of the last seven innings to add to their lead.

After hitting only one home run in their first nine games, the Flames went long three times during their three-game set against the Commodores.

The Flames wrap up a 15-game road swing next weekend against Washington State in Pullman, Wash.
