Chicago, Ill.- Amidst a thick fog hovering over Les Miller Field, the UIC baseball team had a tough time at the plate and on the mound as the Flames fell in the second game of a doubleheader against UW-Milwaukee, 9-2, on Saturday afternoon.
Jake Carr hit a two-run homer in the fifth, but that's all UIC (6-12, 1-2 Horizon League) could muster as the Flames left nine runners stranded on base during the contest.
Carr finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate, including his first home run of the year, while Tyler Moore also had a 2-for-4 outing.
Joe Skinner was tagged with loss after allowing four runs in four innings of work. Dan Luczak earned the win for UW-Milwaukee (2-14, 2-1 Horizon League).
UIC was doomed by UW-Milwaukee's nine-run outburst from the third through fifth innings, including a six-run fifth.
Brad Riegler tossed three strong innings of two-hit work in relief.
UIC hosts Valparaiso this Tuesday at Les Miller Field beginning at 7:05 p.m.
