Fairborn, Ohio- A six-run fifth inning for host Wright State spoiled the UIC baseball team's series opener against the Raiders in a 9-2 loss at Nischwitz Stadium on Friday night.
UIC fell to 30-18 overall and 20-5 in Horizon League games, while Wright State moved to 33-19 and 20-8 in league play.
With the top seed in next week's Horizon League Baseball Championship wrapped up, the Flames used the game to get a slew of players extra in-game work in preparation for the upcoming conference tournament.
Tyler Moore homered and Ryan Schweikert drove in a run.
Starter Ryan Zink suffered the loss after allowing seven runs in four and a third innings.
UIC and Wright State finish the regular season with a series-ending doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m. Eastern.
