UIC Volleyball Game Notes 
Chicago, Ill. - The UIC volleyball team opens Horizon League play this weekend in Ohio when they square off against Youngstown State and Cleveland State.
The Flames kick off their league slate with matchups against the Penguins on Friday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. CST. UIC then faces Cleveland State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
UIC (3-6) is coming off a tough tournament at Mother McAuley on Sept 12-13 where they fell to top-ranked Penn State, Louisville and Illinois State.
Redshirt sophomore Casie Sullivan averages a team-best 2.64 kills per set on the season. Sophomore Taylor Szatkowski continues to guide UIC defensively with 97 digs. Junior Lana Lobdell has totaled a team-high 15 blocks in 32 sets.
Youngstown State (7-3) enters the match with three straight wins under its belt. The Penguins downed West Virginia on the road, 3-1, last Sunday. Horizon League Player of the Week Ruth Boscaljon leads YSU with 2.69 kills per set.
Cleveland State (1-8) is looking to snap a six-match losing streak. CSU's last win of the 2008 season came on August 30 when they swept Chicago State. Amy Benz guides the squad at the net with 1.08 blocks per set.
The Flames step out of Horizon League action next week when they face Central Michigan on Sept. 23 in Mt. Pleasant.
