Cleveland, Ohio - The UIC volleyball team fell to Cleveland State in three sets on Saturday afternoon to conclude its first weekend of Horizon League action.
Casie Sullivan totaled a team-best nine kills. Katarina Nedeljkovic registered 10 digs, while Sullivan and Lana Lobdell led UIC at the net with three blocks apiece.
Jenni Ramminger guided CSU's offense with a match-high 10 kills.
Cleveland State (2-9, 1-1) recorded a .667 attack percentage in set one. The Vikings jumped out to an early 10-5 lead, eventually coasting to a 25-13 victory. CSU held UIC to a zero attack percentage.
UIC (4-7, 1-1) and Cleveland State went point-for-point in the set two. The Flames owned a two-point advantage in the final frame (22-20) before the Viking recorded five straight points for the 25-22 win.
CSU came from behind in set three to capture the match victory. Trailing 19-15, the Vikings recorded six unanswered points for the lead. The Flames got within one point late in the frame, but that would be as close as they would get as the Vikings sealed the sweep with the 25-23 victory.
The Flames face Central Michigan in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. CST.
