Volleyball To Face Butler In Horizon League Tournament Quarterfinal Flames earn fifth-seed in six-team tournament held in Cleveland Nov. 20-22.
CHICAGO - The UIC volleyball team will face Butler on Friday, Nov. 20 in the quarterfinals of the 2009 Horizon League tournament, as the pairings were announced early Sunday afternoon.
The six-team tournament will be played in the Woodling Gym in Cleveland, Ohio as Cleveland State claimed the regular season crown.
Both the top-seeded Vikings and No. 2 Valparaiso will earn byes into the semifinals.
Third-seeded Milwaukee will face No. 6 Green Bay in the first quarterfinal of the tournament at 4 p.m. Central on Friday, while the fifth-seeded Flames square off against the No. 4 Bulldogs in later contest, set to begin at 6:30 p.m CST.
UIC closed out the regular season with a 15-17 overall record, and went 8-8 in league play. The Flames split the season series with Butler, sweeping the Bulldogs at home before falling in a 3-2 affair in Indianapolis.
