CHICAGO - UIC volleyball outside hitters Casie Sullivan and Kelsey Safranek were honored with Horizon League Postseason accolades, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Sullivan, an outside hitter from Kewanee, Ill., was named to the All-League team, as voted on by the league's coaches. Sullivan paced the Flames with 194 kills in league play this season. The junior also tallied 192 digs, the second-most on the team.
A Downers Grove, Ill. native, Safranek earned All-Newcomer honors for an outstanding opening season as a Flame, totaling 170 kills, 25 digs and 31 total blocks against league opponents as a freshman.
"I'm very excited that Casie and Kelsey have been recognized by the other coaches in the league," said head coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley. "Our focus is always on the team, but it is nice for players to get individual recognition for their efforts."
The Flames now prepare for their Horizon League quarterfinal matchup against Butler on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Central.
