CHICAGO- UIC head volleyball coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley unveiled the team's 2009 spring schedule on Friday, Mar. 27.
The Flames will play four exhibition dates this April, beginning on Apr. 4 in a tournament hosted by Loyola at the Gentile Center.
In addition to UIC, the field at the Loyola tourney will include the host Ramblers, Valparaiso, Milwaukee, Michigan State, Iowa, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, Southeast Missouri State, Lewis, Olivet Nazarene, Eastern Illinois and Chicago State.
UIC will scrimmage against Northwestern and Milwaukee in Evanston on Apr. 11, followed by a tournament at the Dunes Operation Center in Rolling Prairie, Ind. on Apr. 18.
The spring slate concludes with a scrimmage against DePaul at the Flames Athletic Center on Apr. 24.
"I am excited to see this team compete and see what improvements we have made since our spring workouts have started," said Schumacher-Cawley. "The spring tournaments will be competitive and should provide a good test."
UIC returns eight student-athletes who played in 20-plus matches last fall as Schumacher-Cawley begins her first season at the helm of the program in 2009.
