NASHVILLE- A pair of two-run homers powered host Vanderbilt to a 6-1 win over the UIC baseball team at Hawkins Field on Friday.

Jason Ganek went 3-for-4 with an RBI single in the sixth for the Flames (1-7).

Curt Casali hit a two-run blast in the third inning and Joe Loftus hit a two-run round-tripper of his own in the fourth for the Commodores (7-4).

Starter Chris Kovacevich lasted seven innings, allowing eight hits and four earned runs while fanning four.

UIC and Vanderbilt resume their four-game set on Saturday.
