CHICAGO- Jake Carr drove in the Flames' final three runs, including the go-ahead run in the seventh, to help the UIC baseball team rally for a 5-4 victory over visiting Bradley at Les Miller Field on Wednesday night.
Carr finished the night 3-for-4 and hit a three-run homer for the Flames (11-13), who won their fourth consecutive game.
Rookie southpaw Michael Heesch improved to 2-0 with 1.2 innings of scoreless relief, while senior Derrick Miramontes came out of the pen to pitch a perfect ninth for his second save.
The Braves (6-14) led 4-1 in the sixth when Carr blasted a two-run bomb over the fence in left center to bring the Flames to within a run.
Tony Altavilla led off the bottom of the seventh by hitting a grounder to the right side that was misplayed by Bradley second baseman Matt Fritz, allowing Altavilla to reach on an error. Two batters later Jason Ganek singled, and Brandon Harwell drew a walk to load the bases.
Steve McGuiggan drew a free pass of his own two hitters after Harwell's walk to bring in the tying run, and Carr hit a single through the left side of the infield to bring in what proved to be the decisive run.
