INDIANAPOLIS- A season-high 19 hits fueled an offensive outburst that lifted the UIC baseball team to a 17-5 victory over host Butler at Bulldog Park on Easter Sunday.
The Flames (15-15, 10-2 Horizon League) won for the 14th time in their last 18 games and completed a three-game series sweep over the Bulldogs (6-26, 2-10 Horizon League).
Five different Flames batters had multi-hit outings at the dish, and four UIC hitters drove in at least two runs.
UIC opened the game with a three-run first inning, highlighted by Jake Carr's two-run single, and tacked on four runs in the top of the third to jump ahead 7-0.
The Flames would score single tallies in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to go up 10-3, and UIC would cement the decision with seven runs in the game's final two frames.
Steven Humble hit his first career homer, and John Rosinski drove in a team-leading and career-high three runs.
Starter Mike Kool struck out eight Bulldogs in six innings to get the win.
Sunday's game capped a six-game league road swing in which the Flames went 4-2.
