CHICAGO- The UIC volleyball team continues its six-game homestand, hosting Central Michigan in a Tuesday night contest at the Flames Athletic Center.
The Flames will take on the Chippewas at 7 p.m. in their final match before the open of the conference season.
UIC comes into the CMU match after going 2-1 on the weekend at the UIC Invitational. The Flames posted wins against Georgia State (3-0: 29-27, 25-22, 25-16) and Duquesne (3-1: 25-18, 25-17, 15-25, 25-23) at their invitational, and lost to No. 18 Michigan State (3-1: 24-26, 24-17, 25-12, 25-18).
Junior Casie Sullivan is currently leading the Flames' offense with 136 total kills on the year. She was named to the UIC Invitational all-tournament team for her efforts on the weekend, as she led the Flames in all three of their matches. Sullivan's 2.24 kills per set average is good for fourth in the circuit, while the junior also ranks ninth in the league in points, averaging 2.48 per set.
Louisville-transfer Nicole Allgood is second on the offense with 96 kills, while senior Lana Lobdell leads the squad with a .317 hitting percentage. Lobdell is also the team's block leader, with 41.0 total blocks thus far on the season (3BS, 38BA). Both Lobdell's hitting percentage (4th), as well as her blocks per set average of 0.98 (5th) put her in the Horizon League top ten listings.
The Chippewas are coming off a 2-1 performance at the Green Bay Invitational Sept. 4-5, sweeping both the host Phoenix and South Dakota State. The Chippewas lost to Iowa 3-1 at the tournament.
After their face off with the Chippewas, the Flames will open their Horizon League schedule this weekend. UIC hosts Milwaukee Saturday at 4 p.m. and Green Bay Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Flames Athletic Center.
