Box Score


BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- The UIC volleyball team leveled its record to 1-1 at the IU adidas Classic Saturday morning with a 3-1 (25-23, 19-25, 25-14, 25-23) loss to Tennessee-Martin.

"This was a tough loss," head coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley said. "We need to be more disciplined and ready to go from the start."

The first set was a battle for both teams, with neither squad taking more than a four-point advantage at any time. The Flames tied the match for the seventh time at 23-23, but a kill by the Skyhawks and an attack error by the Flames closed out the first set win for UT-Martin.

The Flames stole the lead in set two with the score 10-9, and would not give it up. Jessica Dalke would serve two more points to run the score to 12-10, and three points on Taylor Szatkowski's service pushed the UIC lead to 17-13. After going back and forth for a few more points, Casie Sullivan served four points to make the score 22-15.

UIC closed out the 25-19 set two win on a kill from Epiphany Davis.

The Skyhawks came out with a vengeance in set three, running up an early 10-2 lead. After three points from Emily Schaffer's serve, the Flames had the lead cut to five at 13-8.

UT-Martin pulled away with five straight points to take the 21-12 lead, before Lana Lobdell cut the rally with a kill. It took three more sideouts, but the Skyhawks finished out the set three 25-14 win on a service ace.

Set four was another close one, with both teams playing even throughout. The Flames had the largest lead of the set, a 16-14 lead, before the teams traded points down to the wire.

UIC got a side out on a Skyhawks' service error down 24-23, but a kill from UT-Martin settled the set, 25-23, and the match.

Nicole Allgood led the UIC offense, tallying 17 kills on the match. Dalke posted 40 assists and again completed the match double-double with 12 digs. Schaffer tied Dalke's dig total with 12.

UIC finishes its IU adidas Classic play with a 6 p.m. match against host Indiana.
