GAME ONE: UIC 14, Detroit 0 (Six Innings)
After a scoreless first two frames, the Flames put up three runs in the third as back-to-back singles from Melinda Macias and Stephanie Chavez would drive in two. Brooke Frydendall followed suit as her deep center field double brought in Chavez for the three-run lead.
Detroit's lone hit of the entire day would fall in the bottom of the second as Jessica Liebner's single would dribble past the infield, and would advance to second on a sac bunt from Katie Schaus, but the Titans would create no other offense in the remainder of the afternoon.
The runs kept coming with three more in the fourth, as Coryn Schmit reached on a two-out walk. A well-placed bunt from Christie Seddon moved her to second, and Macias would bring them both home on a double for a 6-0 lead.
The true offensive onslaught would fall amidst the sixth inning, as six hits, including a Macias home run, would create eight runs for the 14 run total.
Macias would become the sixth Flame in program history to accrue four runs in a single contest with her 4-for-5, two singles, a double and a homer outing in game one.
Devin Miller would surrender a lone hit in the second and a walk in the third for the two blemishes on her second shutout of the season.
GAME TWO: UIC 12, Detroit 0 (Five Innings)
While UIC may have compiled less runs in the nightcap, the offense was quick to start as Macias would drive the first pitch of the second game clear of the wall over left center field for an instantaneous lead.
Chavez would be mere inches from going yard as her double bounced off the upper portion of the outfield fence, but Frydendall went long over left field for a 3-0 lead right off the bat.
Kelsey Sturgeon opened the second with a standup double, and would be driven in by Chavez two batters later for a four-run Flames' lead.
Akin to the first game, the third inning would feature eight runs courtesy nine hits (all singles save Frydendall's third double of the day) to put the Flames up 14-0.
Ashley Hewett would match her career-best with 12 strikeouts, falling shy of a five-inning perfect game by an infield error in the fourth, but would collect her first no-hitter all the same.
