CHICAGO - The awards continue to pile up after fans from around the Horizon League have spoken and selected UIC volleyball middle hitter Janise Dismuke as the Horizon League Network's People's Choice Award winner for the week of Sept. 13th.
The poll, which was posted on Monday morning at www.horizonleague.com, allowed fans to select from six student-athletes who captured Player of the Week honors in their respective sports. Dismuke captured the honor going away by receiving an outstanding 55-percent of the total votes.
The Peoria, Ill. native was named Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week after capturing Best Western Invitational MVP honors last weekend upon leading the Flames to the tournament title with wins over Charleston Southern, Troy and North Florida on Friday and Saturday. Dismuke hit .484 (52-6-95), averaged 3.47 kills per set and racked up 17 blocks during UIC's four matches.
The Horizon League Network's Jaclyn Bevis interviewed Dismuke who spoke about the ups and downs that the Flames have faced early in the campaign, as well as the challenges that lie ahead as they prepare to open conference play this weekend against Youngstown State and Cleveland State.

Following a successful trip to Jacksonville, Fla. last weekend where they won their first non-conference tournament in at least 15 years, UIC returns to Chicago where they open the Horizon League portion of the schedule on Friday evening against the Youngstown State Penguins at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, UIC hosts the defending regular season conference champions, Cleveland State, at 4:00 p.m. Both matches will be played inside the UIC Physical Education Building which is located at 901 W. Roosevelt Rd., immediately adjacent to the Flames Athletic Center.
