CHICAGO - The UIC men's and women's swimming & diving teams are set to head to Eastern Illinois on Saturday, where the Flames will face the Panthers beginning at 1 p.m., at the Padovan Pool.
Coming off an impressive performance against Wright State, resulting in wins for the men and women, both squads will look to improve upon their performances as they hit the road. Against the Raiders (Oct. 15), the Flames combined for first place finishes in 24-of-32 events, with 3-of-4 coming in the relays.
Raking in top times from experienced veterans and fresh newcomers, the men's team will carry over momentum from the likes of Zach Van Swol and Vince Errichiello. Against Wright State, Van Swol took first in the 1000-yard Freestyle and 200-yard Backstroke, while Errichiello finished first in the 100 Fly and 200 IM.
The women's team defeated Wright State for the first time in head coach Paul Moniak's 10 seasons with the Flames. Now 1-0, the women will look to build on the performance of Clair Martin, who claimed individual first place honors in the 100 Back and 200 Back against Wright State.
UIC has defeated EIU in each of the past eight seasons, including last season (Oct. 30), when the women won 153-52, and the men emerged victorious, 143-71.
