Final Stats CHICAGO - The UIC volleyball team defeated Chicago State in straight sets (25-21, 25-15, 25-12) Monday at the Flames Athletic Center in Chicago. Redshirt junior captain Janise Dismuke (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) collected eight kills in the third set.
The Flames (7-5) made quick work in the victory over Chicago State (1-12) as the squad handed the Cougars the loss in a little over an hour.
In the first set, the two teams exchanged points back and forth until the Flames squad went on a four-point run as junior Kelsey Safranek (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) began the run with a kill, which was assisted by sophomore captain MaryKate Imrie (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg). The UIC team downed Chicago State in a 25-21 decision, which would be the closest decision the Cougars would find in the match.

Freshman Sara Sternard (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Westmont) hammered down the first, followed by redshirt sophomore Aubrey Sniegowski (Lemont, Ill./Lemont Township) and freshman Molly McCoy (St. Charles, Ill./Wheaton Academy) concluded the trio of consecutive kills. Each kill was set up by Imrie.
The Flames picked up their largest lead in the third set with a 25-12 victory to secure the match. Safranek had three kills, while Dismuke added eight kills.
The Flames return to action Friday at 7:00 p.m. (CT) in a match against Loyola. Fans can follow the live stats and live videostream, which can be found at UICFlames.com.
