DAYTON, Ohio - The UIC baseball team was defeated, 8-0, in game two of the three-game series at Wright State on Saturday afternoon inside Nischwitz Stadium. Freshman pitcher Brian Evak lasted 5.2 innings, allowing three runs on just four hits and was credited with the loss. After beating the Raiders, 5-1, on Friday night, the Flames hold an overall record of 5-10 and a Horizon League mark of 1-1.

"Brian Evak pitched really well for us," said head coach Mike Dee. "He just ran out of gas and our bullpen didn't execute down the stretch. We are excited to go back out there tomorrow and compete and try to get the series win."

Sophomore Ryan Boss collected a game-high three hits on four at-bats as teammate Alex De LaRosa tallied two and Jon Ryan and Cody Dykema notched one each.

After the Raiders held a 1-0 lead at the conclusion of the first inning, Evak and WSU hurler Cody Kopilchack squared off in a pitcher's duel. Neither team scored over the next four innings as Kopilchack gave up just two hits and Evak allowed none.

The bottom of the sixth doomed the Flames as WSU tacked on five scores with four hits and one UIC error. The Raiders added two more insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to seal the eight-point shutout.

The series finale will commence at noon CT on Sunday afternoon as junior Charlie Weinberg is set to take the mound.
