CHICAGO - The UIC men's and women's swimming and diving programs were recently named as Scholar All-American teams by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
"The coaching staff is very proud of this accomplishment," said head coach Paul Moniak. "It shows our student-athletes are striving to achieve a high level of success in the pool as well as the classroom."
The women's squad posted a team cumulative GPA of 3.38 which stands as the best average among Horizon League programs. Thirteen female athletes hold a GPA of 3.0 or higher as nine individuals tally a mark of 3.40 or better. Five team members earned a perfect 4.0 last semester, the highest mark of any UIC team, including senior Sarah Harper who owns a team-best 3.86.
The men's team qualified for the award with a 3.04 team GPA and serves as the only Horizon League men's program to make the cut. Eight male members hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher as freshman Vince Errichiello owns a team-best 3.64.
