Final Stats 
CHICAGO - The UIC baseball team (5-7) spoiled the season opener for Chicago (0-1) by downing the Maroons, 15-6, on Tuesday night at Les Miller Field. Nine UIC players recorded at least one RBI and five Flames' batters posted two hits apiece. Jacob McNamara and Ryan Boss paced UIC at the plate as they combined for six RBI, four hits and four runs. Boss notched his 14th career homer with a two-run blast in the seventh inning as McNamara smacked two doubles.
Redshirt junior Mike McKinley made his first start for UIC and was credited with the win as he lasted five innings, allowing just two hits and one earned run. Freshman Jack Andersen came in for the eighth frame and struck out three batters. Sophomore Alex Posey finished off the Maroons in the ninth, holding Chicago hitless.
The game underwent a 30-minute weather delay after the third inning due to a brief but heavy snow fall. At that point UIC owned a 3-1 edge and held Chicago without a single hit.
"I was really pleased with the effort today," said head coach Mike Dee. "No matter what happened today our guys remained calm and kept at it."
The Flames showed great consistency from the start by grabbing at least one run in each of the first five frames. As UIC cruised into the top of the sixth inning with a 6-2 advantage, Chicago kept the game in check with three scores to chop the Flames' lead down to 6-5.
That's when Boss went yard to right-center field in the bottom of the seventh to give the Flames an 8-5 cushion. The Maroons tacked on one more run in the eighth before the Flames exploded for seven scores in the bottom half of the frame, cementing the midweek triumph.
Joining Boss and McNamara with two hits were Ryan Shober, Alex De LaRosa and Harry Kammholz.
The Flames will be back in action tomorrow at home against Roosevelt with first pitch set for 4:05 p.m. CT.
