CHICAGO - The UIC baseball team (24-26, 11-11 HL) held a 2-1 lead after six innings of play against Wright State (22-26, 9-10 HL) on Thursday evening at Nischwitz Stadium, but the Raiders scored lone runs in the seventh and eighth frames to squeak out a 3-2 victory. The contest formed into a pitching duel between UIC's Tomas Michelson and WSU's Casey Henn as both offenses combined for just 10 hits. Michelson was given the loss despite tossing 7.1 innings and allowing just two earned runs and six hits. Henn ended the day with 11 strikeouts, while giving up a mere three hits.

"Both teams had great pitching tonight," said head coach Mike Dee. "We just gave too many at-bats away in early in the game."

Redshirt senior Alex De LaRosa paced UIC at the plate by going 2-for-3 as Ryan Boss and Zenon Kolakowski tallied the other two hits for the Flames.

Wright State began the contest with a single run in the first inning to take the early 1-0 lead. After three scoreless frames, the Flames scored two runners in the fifth as Joe Betcher drove in the first run on fielder's choice. Kolakowski collected the second RBI on a single to center field that forced Alex Grunenwald across the dish, giving UIC the 2-1 edge.

WSU rallied and tacked on single runs in the seventh and eighth to cement the one-run triumph.

Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. CT with freshman Ian Lewandowski set to take the mound for UIC.
