CHICAGO – The UIC volleyball team will hold its fifth annual alumni event Saturday inside the Flames Athletic Center. The team will compete in a Blue vs. Red intrasquad scrimmage at 11:00 a.m. (CT), followed by a BBQ at 12:30 p.m.

The Blue vs. Red scrimmage will kick off the 2013 season at 11:00 a.m., and provide a look at this season’s team. The BBQ is set to begin at 12:30 p.m., and is open to all alumni, family and friends of the UIC volleyball team. The 2013 team was recently selected to finish fifth in the Horizon League after notching a runner-up finish in 2012 at the Horizon League Championship. The team returns eight student-athletes from 2012 and welcomes four new faces to the team.

The Flames will have their season-opening match at the Naval Academy Tournament as they take on Elon on August 30 at 3:00 p.m., in Annapolis, Md.
