Oana Manole competed in the singles qualifier draw and doubles main draw at the Atkins Tennis Center.
Competition got underway on Thursday (Oct. 16) with singles action. In the first round, Mebuke went to the tiebreaker in set two but dropped a 6-2, 7-6 (4) decision to Illinois' Julia Jamieson, while Manole was defeated in a 6-3, 6-3 final by Eastern Illinois' Sephora Boulbahaiem.
Altansarnai was able to bypass the first round and move on to the round of 32, where she was faced with Wisconsin's Lauren Burich. It was a hard-fought battle, but Altansarnai ultimately fell 7-5, 7-5.
Round one of the doubles main draw kicked off on Friday. Altansarnai and Mebuke joined together for the first time and came away with an 8-4 victory against a familiar pairing of Valeryia Kulikovskaya and Anna Davydova from Horizon League-foe Detroit.
In round two, Altansarnai and Mebuke were positioned against DePaul's Ana Vladutu and Patricia Fargas, but the Flames could not hang on as the No. 44 nationally-ranked duo collected an 8-3 win.
With the conclusion of its fall season, UIC will now await for its dual season to kick off in January. The Flames first matchup is set for Jan. 24 at Match Point Tennis in Griffith, Ind., against Toledo.
