CHICAGO - The UIC women's basketball team (10-3) concluded the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 104-26 home victory over Robert Morris-Springfield (3-11) Friday afternoon. The Flames scored the first 23 points of the contest and set the program record for widest margin of victory (78).
UIC also set program records for fewest points allowed (26), made field goals (47), assists (33), highest field goal percentage (.618) and tied the most points scored (104). UIC also scored 104 points against Chicago State on Nov. 29, 1993.
The Flames scored more points in the first half (55) than they have allowed over the last two games (54). UIC defeated Loyola, 63-28, Tuesday afternoon at the UIC Pavilion.
UIC is off to its best 13-game start in the Division I era (1981-present). The 2014 WBI Champions have won 14 out of their last 17 contests overall.
UIC is 8-0 at home and has outscored opponents by an average of 27.8 points in Chicago. The Flames have won 14 consecutive home contests overall as UIC finished the 2013-14 season with six straight home victories.
Six UIC players scored in double-figures and the Flames' bench contributed 54 points. UIC also grabbed 18 offensive rebounds and scored 24 second-chance points.
The Flames tied their season high with 18 steals and committed a season-low 10 turnovers. The Flames forced 26 turnovers and scored 42 points off the Eagles' miscues.
Kendyl Nunn played 26 minutes off the bench and matched her season high of 16 points to lead the Flames. She also grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds, the most by a UIC player other than Ruvanna Campbell since Jan. 25, 2011 (Jasmine Bailey - 17). Nunn's performance is the first double-double of her career.
Melita Emanuel-Carr (14 points) and Manuella Kanmegni (12 points) both went 6-of-9 from the floor. Emanuel-Carr drained both attempts from downtown and has converted 52 percent of her three-point attempts (13-of-25) over the last eight contests. Kanmegni collected the first double-digit performance of her career.
Ruvanna Campbell was 6-of-6 from the field and added 12 points in 10 minutes of action. She is the only UIC player to score in double-figures in all 13 contests and has been in double-digits for 17 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Terri Bender and Caitlin Garant both contributed 11 points while Bender picked up a team-high four steals. Imani Moore scored eight points and set a career high with seven assists.
UIC opens Horizon League play at home on Jan. 8 against Youngstown State (11-1). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside the UIC Pavilion. The Penguins are in first place in the Horizon League standings and set a program record with 11 non-conference victories.
