Box Score Nov. 19, 2015 West Lafayette, Ind. - UIC (2-1) dropped their first road contest of the season at Purdue (2-0) on Thursday night. The Flames battled the entire game but could not overcome the early deficit.
Purdue opened the game on an 8-2 run and finished the period with a 23-12 lead. The Flames cut the lead to seven early in the second period, but cold shooting down the stretch allowed Purdue to stretch the lead to 32-22 at halftime.
"I thought we battled all night," said head coach Regina Miller. "Purdue made a couple of runs and when you are in a tough game you have to match score for score. We gave up a couple runs late in the second period and had to play catch up the rest of the game."
Ruvanna Campbell poured in 23 points and grabbed 17 rebounds (11 defensive), her 51st career double-double and third of the season. Campbell currently ranks third among active NCAA players in career double-doubles.
In the second half UIC was able to cut the lead to 45-38 before Purdue went on a 10-2 run with four minutes left to seal the victory.
"I'm not disappointed in our effort, I though we followed our game plan," said Miller. "We now have to regroup and prepare for Illinois State."
The Flames return to action on Monday, Nov. 23 at Illinois State in Normal, Ill. with tip-off set for 7 p.m.

UIC out-rebounded their opponent for the third straight game ... Purdue leads the all-time series 3-2 ... each team has won every game on their home court ... Imani Moore has recorded at least three steals in each of the first three games.
