CHICAGO -- The UIC baseball team (20-18-1) scored four runs in the seventh inning to tie the score at 4-4 against Northern Illinois (18-26) on Tuesday night, but the Huskies plated four in the eighth frame to seal the 8-4 road win at Curtis Granderson Stadium.

Alex Lee, Conor Philbin and Zenon Kolakowski all tallied two hits as Tyler Detmer and Jeff Boehm secured one each. Detmer drove in two runs and Kolakowski was responsible for the remaining Flames RBI.

NIU's Alex Smith went 4-for-4 from the plate as teammate Micah McCulloch hit 3-for-4. The Huskies out-hit the Flames, 13-8.

Jack Andersen started on the mound for UIC and allowed five hits during two innings of work. He struck out two NIU batters and gave up zero earned runs. Noah Masa was charged with the loss after allowing four runs in 1.2 frames.

After a scoreless first frame, Northern Illinois jump out to an early 1-0 lead in the second inning. They scored another lone run in the fifth inning and then added two more in the sixth to go ahead 4-0.

The Flames answered back with all four of their runs in the bottom of the seventh stanza to knot the score at 4-4. Lee was the first UIC player to cross the dish after a wild pitch. Kolakowski drove in Ricardo Ramirez off a single to center field and then Detmer plated Kolakowski and Gabe Dwyer after he singled to left field.

UIC returns to Horizon League action this weekend as the first-place Flames travel to second-place Wright State. The three-game series is scheduled to begin on Friday at 5:30 p.m. CT.
