July 3, 2015 The 2015-16 academic year begins in 52 days and UICFlames.com counts down the Top 25 Flames over the summer months (June 8-July 31). Each sport will be featured over eight weeks as we preview the upcoming year in UIC Athletics. In this installment of `Top 25 Flames for 2015-16', we will look at women's tennis player
Jackie Altansarnai. The senior made an impression in her first season with the Flames with 28 wins. She was named to the All-Horizon League Team at the end of the season and earned Horizon League Player of the Week honors on March 18 following a sweep of Bowling Green in singles and doubles.
As a permanent fixture at No. 2 singles during the dual season, Altansarnai went 12-8, 6-2 HL, at the position and had 10 of her 12 wins come in straight sets. On two occasions she posted win streaks of four or matches, with the first serving as a five-match streak from March 7-29 and the second coming in succession of four matches from April 3-12.
Altansarnai saw action at all three positions in doubles but ultimately took place alongside Ann-Sophie Hahn in all but three matches in the dual season at No. 2 and 3. The duo went 10-3 overall and 6-1 in conference as they ended the season on a five-match win streak.
