Port Clinton, Ohio – The UIC women's golf team ended the fall season with a 13
th place finish in the Rocket Classic hosted by the University of Toledo. The 54-hole event took place over a two-day period.
The Flames shot 1,006 as a team during the event and were led by sophomore
Kelly Sterling (87-83-79) and junior
Bailey Bostler (82-82-85) who each carded a combined score of 249. For the tournament UIC made just three birdies and 35 par putts.
In today's final round, Sterling (79) shot a six over par to pace the Flames. Sterling, a native of Mokena, Ill., shaved off four strokes and improved her shot total in every round.
On the first day of action Monday, the Flames completed 36 rounds with a total score of 665 (335-330). Bostler led the Flames with her consistent play shooting an 82 in each round which tied for 50
th. Sophomore
Meghan Kramp (84-82) and
Kelly Sterling (87-83) overcame four tough holes with 32 steady holes. Junior
Courteney Fabbri fired a solid 82 in the morning session while freshmen
Brittany Norem struggled but rebounded in the afternoon to record her low competitive round of 83 early in her Flames career.
The Flames will break until March 4-8, 2017 when the spring season begins at the Seminole State Spring Break Invitational in Lake Mary, Fla.
